The ANU Queer* Department is an autonomous space, meaning that all queer students can attend meetings, events, and get the benefits of community! That being said, we also run events that encourage allies and we always encourage allies to stay vigilant and active within the community. At the ANU Queer* dept, we provide a lot of different support for students on campus, including the running of events, wellbeing support, and merch!
Our events are regularly posted on our social media platforms including Instagram (@anuqueerdept) and Facebook (@ANU Queer Dept). We run events that are also frequently updated on our calendar here.
Merchandise is available for purchase throughout the year depending on our stock levels. They are primarily sold at events during orientation week such as department fete and market day. To order merchandise outside of this period please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for options and availability.
The Queer house is an autonomous space on campus that is available for all queer or questioning students to access. To be able to access the house, you will need a student card and to request access. Access can be requested using this google form. The address of the house is 12 Balmain Lane, ACTON and further information on how to get to the house can be found on our instagram and facebook. The house contains a library, study, 2x common areas, an arts and crafts room, quiet room, dining room, kitchen, accessible & gender neutral bathroom.
Additionally, to support the wellbeing of our gender diverse students, depending on finances, we attempt to offer free gender affirming gear (including binders and tucking underwear) to queer ANU students. The orders are placed typically once a semester and registration is done through an online google form.
