Advocacy for Inclusion provides independent individual, self and systemic advocacy for people with disabilities.
Advocacy for Inclusion is a Disabled Peoples Organisation which means our board, members and staff are a majority of people with disabilities.
We represent Canberra’s most marginalised and isolated people with disabilities, those with cognitive disabilities and significant communication barriers.
We work within a human rights framework and acknowledge the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Advocacy for Inclusion is signed onto the ACT Human Rights Act.
Services we provide:
1. Individual Advocacy
Advocacy for Inclusion provides a complete wrap around individual and self-advocacy service.
We support people with disabilities to be heard and to achieve the outcomes they want.
We focus on people who are dealing with legal matters (criminal, civil, tribunal, complaint).
2. Self-advocacy Program
We support people with disabilities to build their self-advocacy skills and to become strong in using them.
Self-determination cannot be real unless Self-advocacy and Supported Decision Making are working well. Our Self-advocacy Program assists with developing and using these vital skills.
