Community Services #1

Community Services #1 provides assistance and care to people across all stages of life.  We are proudly a profit-for-purpose community services organisation and offer a wide range of programs from early childhood education, aged care services, community support groups, senior’s activities, out of hospital care, home care packages and more.

Community Services #1 provides emotional and practical support to thousands of families and individuals across Canberra and now into NSW with the delivery of Out of Hospital Care.

Our programs and services across Canberra include Early Education and Care, Aged Care Services, The Food Pantry, Community Support including Social Support Groups and Seniors Groups, Transport Services and venue hire.

Established in 1987 (formerly known as Southside Community Services), CS#1 works in accordance with its purpose and mission: connecting people to enrich lives by providing services that enhance quality of life. Our breadth of programs is supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

The principle objectives of Community Services #1 is to advance social or public welfare so that:

  1. individuals and families are relieved of poverty, distress or disadvantage
  2. people are supported and protected across the whole of life
  3. people are supported to build and achieve goals for their future
  4. individuals, communities and stakeholders are engaged to create connections and opportunities for people to undertake meaningful roles
  5. resilient communities are built.

Our services include:

  • Six early childhood education and care centres
  • Two Out of School Hours Care Programs located at Mawson and Throsby Primary Schools
  • Family and Individual Support
  • Assistance with Care and Housing
  • Community mini-bus service
  • Special care transport
  • Community Development
  • Home and Community Care
  • Care and package Management
  • Centre–based Activities for Home and Community Care Clients
  • Regional Assessment Service
  • Health Promotion
  • Venue hire
