LGBTI Aged Care Awareness Training – creating a more inclusive Aged Care Sector.
The Silver Rainbow LGBTI Aged Care Awareness Training Project is managed by the National LGBTI Heath Alliance and is being delivered collaboratively with project partners across every state and territory in Australia. It is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health until June 2020.
The AIDS Action Council is proud to partner with the National LGTBI Health Alliance to deliver LGBTI Aged Care Awareness Training in the ACT. This project is led by the Council’s dedicated Aged Care Project Officer. This nationally funded program provides workshops aimed at improving and strengthening LGBTI inclusive service delivery for aged care sector workers and organisations providing aged care services.
Individual training can be customised to meet the needs of your organisation and staff teams and be delivered either onsite or at one of the Council’s partner agencies. There is a nominal fee of $10 per participant for the training.
The training session will define the LGBTI communities, explore the ageing experience for LGBTI elders and examine the importance of providing inclusive person-directed care.
TOPICS INCLUDE:
Our ageing population is arguably the most important transition facing LGBTIQ and wider communities in the coming years. Whether you are an aged care facility or health care provider delivering services to seniors, the Council can help you identify changes to policies and provide staff training to assist in making both your workforce and organisation truly inclusive. If you would like to arrange this professional development for your staff, the Council can be contacted via telephone or email.
