Sydney NSW
SQuAD is the Sydney Queer and Disability Community group. We raise awareness for queer ppl with disabilities and also have a good social time.
We have a long term goal of becoming an advocacy body for queer people with disabilities.
SQuAD is committed to ensuring the world caters to people who live with disabilities.
SQuAD role is to:
Educate its members and others within and outside the queer community about what it is like to live with a disability and how this identity intersects with sexuality.
Create a social support network, which helps people to overcome the social isolation they often encounter as a person living with a disability, and to provide a social space in which they feel included.
Fulfill its obligations as an advocacy lobbying group through ensuring its own queer and non-queer events are accessible and that the queer community does its best to be as inclusive and as accessible as possible.
This organisation is part of or caters specifically to the LGBTQIA+ community and is welcoming to members from Multicultural/Multilingual communities.
