Protecting the rights of LGBTIQA+ people

Whether you’re lesbian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual, transgender, intersex, queer or questioning, or asexual, you have the right to equal opportunity. It’s against the law for someone to treat you unfairly because of your sexual orientation or gender identity.

It’s easy for you to raise concerns or complaints about discrimination or vilification with us. You can talk to us anonymously or confidentially while we work out the best way to address your concern.

You can contact us for a free & confidential chat about your concerns and we can give you information about your options or help you make a complaint.

We can help you deal with concerns about:

  • Discrimination in employment, education, accommodation, service provision
  • Vilification on the basis of gender identity, sexuality, or HIV status
  • Sexuality & gender identity conversion practices
  • Sexual harassment
  • Health services & individual health practitioners (eg. doctors)
  • Abuse, neglect or exploitation of people over 60 or an adult with a disability
  • Aged care, retirement villages and services for older people
  • Services for people with a disability
  • Services for victims of crime
  • Services for children & young people
  • Occupancy & accommodation

We will try and help you resolve the concern or complaint. If we can’t deal with an issue or the issues cannot be resolved through our process, we will talk to you about other options.
